(IASL) International Academy Student Leadership IASL is a student-led club that gives them opportunities to advocate for themselves and express their power through communication and dissemination of resources. They do this by creating service-learning plans which are authentic, collaborative, student-led projects that involve solving problems in the community while helping them learn to become better world citizens. Aquarium Club In the Aquarium Club, we meet every 2 weeks to discuss fish tanks and aquarium care. When in school, we maintain fish tanks in Ms. Hearding's room B217. We also sometimes hatch brine shrimp to feed to the fish. It is also a social club. Some years, we raise money to go to the National Aquarium in Baltimore at the end of the year. Arabic Club This club is for anyone and everyone who is interested in the Arabic language and Arab culture! We will do poetry nights, play Arabic music, and read Arabic stories. Best Buddies Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Class of 2022 The purpose of this group is to organize events and spirit days for the class of 2022. The SCA officers and Leadership students serve as the directors of this group but all members of the class of 2022 are encouraged to join us for our meetings to give their feedback on class projects or propose some of their own! D&D Club (Minnie Howard) This club provides students with a digital opportunity to join, participate in, or observe weekly Dungeons and Dragons sessions. Esports Club The members of this club will come together to play team-based videogames in a structured and supportive environment. Students may also enter local high school esports competitions through this club. Gretchen Wagner Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30 virtually.
Ethiopian and Eritrean club Ethiopian Eritrean club is a club where students from Ethiopian and Eritrean Heritage (or those interested to learn more about the heritage and come together with others from that background) can come together to celebrate their heritage, share their experiences and support one another. Students will partake in many opportunities including, college field trips, cultural showcases, volunteering at an elderly home, and mentoring/tutoring Amharic/Tigriniyan speaking youths in the community. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is one of the largest student organizations in the country with over 250,000 members. It is a co-curricular activity combining business education and our organization within the classroom. This organization allows students to become contributing members of the community. As business leaders, students will learn how to apply their classroom instruction in business practices and procedures to leadership development activities, competitive event experiences, while giving back to their community. FBLA provides vocational activities, fun experiences, with opportunities to develop leadership skills integral to the organization. Just show up, meet new people, and have fun! Greening Earth I intend to guide students and their families towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Some activities include creating minute-long educational videos that a person of any age can implement or learn from, preparing a daily sustainability tip to be presented at our SEAL lessons, starting a compost program with the garden club, and contacting local representatives to pass socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable policies and spread awareness. IWYMI (It's Whatever You Make It) With IWYMI, our goal is to connect and include all T.C students in an open and safe community where we can talk about varying topics from things as simple as “ do ghosts really exist?” We want to use discussions to bring light to current issues/topics, learn about each other's lives/experiences, and to simply help people realize that their opinions are valid. KEY Club Volunteer opportunities in the Alexandria Community, such as Meals On Wheels, Art on the Avenue, Tree Lightings in Old Town/Del Ray, Turkey Trot, Halloween Parade in Del Ray. Members receive points for each event that they participate in. Seniors receive a cord for graduation if they earn enough points. Affiliated with the Alexandria Kiwanis Club; the Kiwanis award scholarship money to active Key Club graduating seniors each year. Dues are $15/year; Key Club t-shirts $10. Labyrinth Magazine TC Williams High School's Literary and Arts Magazine. Showcases TC student creative writing, art, and photography. Staff and editorial positions are filled through the Journalism II (M) course, but any and all ACHS students are encouraged to submit their work by email to  labyrinthmagazine@gmail.com. Latin Club Activities, reenactments, and enrichment-related to Latin, ancient Rome, and the Romans. We recreate ancient cultural events and artifacts, examine ancient practices (such as dining and clothing), examine media related to ancient Rome, etc. In November a major set of meetings are devoted to preparations for the Virginia state convention, a two-day event for Latin students from all over the commonwealth! MH Library Poetry Club MH Library Poetry Club welcomes all students interested in reading, writing and sharing poetry in any poetic form. National Honor Society The ACHS National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes juniors and seniors who have shown outstanding achievements in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Science National Honor Society The purpose of the Science National Honor Society (SNHS) is to promote the interest in sciences by participating mainly in ACPS sponsored activities in which the members can benefit and impact others in our school community. vmirto@acps.k12.va.us Virtual meetings will be held once a month after or before school.
SELAH SELAH is a faith-based organization dedicated to achieving racial reconciliation. The name SELAH, derives from Psalms 24:6, which means “to pause.” Our pause is to take a step back and reflect on the injustice and hurt experienced by oppressed communities. SELAH encourages the normalization of uncomfortable discussions concerning racism, racial reconciliation, peace, and mental health, through the greatest commandment that is expressed by Jesus, which is to love thy neighbor as thyself (Mark 12:31). SELAH will hold virtual discussions to bond with people of all backgrounds, hold events in which these discussions are continued, educate members on historical information not taught at schools, mental health and stress reliever activities, and give back to the community such as feeding the homeless and taking tours in the Alexandria community to educate one another on the history of the West vs East side of Alexandria. Shining Your Light Book Club This book club will read the book Unbroken: 13 Stories Starring Disabled Teens. During the meetings, we will discuss the stories, writing process and favorite writers. Courtney Davis, Ph.D. Our book club will meet via Zoom on a weekly basis on Wednesdays.
Social Justice Club This after-school program of Tenants and Workers United - The Social Justice Club intends to work with high school students to discuss current issues happening at the local, state, national, and worldwide levels. It's an opportunity to learn about the work we do with our community as well as develop leadership skills through fun and educational activities. We have been having this same program at ACHS for five years now and these are topics/activities we will discuss are. Titan Book Club Titan Book Club offers students the opportunity to read and discuss books of their choosing, whether it be fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, mystery, etc. Students meet once a month to discuss the selected book. Discussions are informal and student-led. Nothing is mandatory—all are welcome, and students are encouraged to read and attend whenever their schedules allow. Titans Fine Art Society Come join our beau monde! Our society of fine arts will meet biweekly on Wednesdays. Enjoy sips of tea and espresso whilst in the presence of fellow artists. Young Life Young life club is a positive environment where students from all backgrounds can come together to play fun games and activities, meet other students and volunteers from the community and discuss the Bible and life!
